22700 Woodward has a fascinating history! Starting as "The Bungalow Café" in 1930 during prohibition, it shifted to a restaurant that became licensed to sell beer & wine in 1934 when prohibition ended.

It later became a pet/feed store, sporting good shop, computer training center, artists supply, design showroom, and most recently returned to its roots as a restaurant.

Don Hunt (B'Wana Don - more HERE) spent hours at the pet store from the time he was 12 in the 1940s. He became the owner in 1955 which started him on his famous animal-based career. A popular attraction at this location in the 1950s was his trained monkey, Albert.

Herb's Artist Supplies was a 1970s destination for many metro area Artists - and the fascination lasted over 20 years.

The Emory (part of the WAB family of businesses) has celebrated family and local history here since 2006 as a comfortable restaurant and meeting place. We wish them many more years of success!
