22812 Woodward has a long history as a popular restaurant! It started in 1937 as the "Riviera Cafe" owned by Peter & Paul Kondos. From 1951 thru at least 1955 it appears to be owned by John Sousa and John Grabsas.

In March 1954 George Palmer was granted a license to operate Palmer's Tea Room at this location. Despite the stylish logotype (see photo), the restaurant was gone within a year.

In January 1955 the restaurant was run by Paul Capraro and his wife as "Como Restaurant". It was called "the first Pizzeria in Ferndale!

In June 1961 the Grego family bought and ran what has since been known as "Como's" - with an apostrophe. It closed in 2017 and new owner's reopened in 2018.

A violent car accident in 1988 caused several businesses in the Lux building (at the corner of 9 & Woodward) to be destroyed. Como's purchased the corner and opened their patio. You can read more HERE.

If you have photos of the Riviera Cafe or Como's please share with the museum!
